VBS 2023 - Volunteer Positions

Come use your talent, skills and experience in showing kids what daily life was like back then. No experience necessary. We will show you exactly what to do.

VBS will take place the week of July 10-14 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. (eastern time) with Celebration Sunday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m. There is no cost involved and open to all children ages three through sixth grade.

Tribe leaders will be responsible for children within their group (about ten children) and will lead to different stations each night during VBS. Family leaders will consist of one adult and one teen leader per group.
SHOP KEEPERS/CRAFTS (6 adults): 1)Tom Barron 2)Debra Barron 3)Ashley Barron 4)Janie Butler

There will be two leaders assigned to each shop/craft tent. Each shop keeper will be responsible for setting up its own craft tent on Sunday, July 9 after the conclusion of the morning church service. You will need to wear biblical attire during VBS week. Costumes will be provided for you and you may pick up in the Fellowship Room on Sunday, July 9. Duties will be to instruct and help children with their craft (10 children per rotation). At the end of each day you will be responsible for organizing, cleaning your tent and preparing for the next day.

Food helpers will be responsible for preparing and serving food to the children each night of VBS.
VOLUNTEER MEAL HELPERS (2 adults): 1)Janet McWaters

Volunteer food helpers are responsible for preparing and setting up the Volunteer Dinner Buffet each night. Volunteers will be eating at different times throughout the night. Your job is to replenish the food, tidy up the food table and clean up after the dinner each night of VBS.
REGISTRATION (4 adults): 1)Kelly Flagg

Responsible for registering children that have not been pre-registered. Each child will receive a name tag and be assigned to a Tribe. The first two days of VBS are hectic and you must arrive 45 minutes prior to the start of VBS to get your station prepared.
STORY TIME ACTORS (1 Leader & 3 Male Adult Actors): Daniel, Ashpenaz & a Guard

 
 
 
 
Adults needed to act out different parts for Bible story time. A different script will be provided for you to learn each night of VBS. Each Tribe will visit story time from 6:55 to 8:30. You will be acting out the story for approximately 30 children at a time. There will be three rotations each day lasting thirty minutes each. Your script will be provided to you several weeks before VBS starts so you will have plenty of time to learn your lines.
STORY TIME HELPER (1 adult):

Story time helper is responsible for "behind the scenes" of story time. Helping to create the set that will be used during story time. Assist actors with their costumes and straighten up the set after each rotation. Every night after the last rotation you will be responsible for preparing the set for the next day. All story time actors and helpers will set up/decorate tent area the week before VBS. Supplies, props and costumes will be provided (See Ginger for details).
CELEBRATION: (1 Leader & 2 Helpers): Leader: Tara Howard, Mitzie Stone & Elizabeth Bonifas

Celebration leader is responsible for leading the daily Worship sessions. The first session is from 6:40-6:55 each night and the second session is from 8:40-8:55 each night. You will be responsible for teaching the songs and motions to the children and family leaders. Your duties include making announcements, interacting with children during Worship time, reviewing the daily Bible points, and opening and closing in prayer each day. A costume and/or t-shirt will be provided for you to wear during VBS week.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITY HELPERS (4 adults): 1)David Wright 2)Jackie Wright 3)Brady McDonald 4)Tanner Williams 5)Joshua Washington

Outdoor activity helpers are responsible for instructing outdoor games with approximately 30 children for each rotation with three rotations each night.You will be provided a pamphlet of games and instructions for each night. Duties include setting up the games each day before VBS starts and cleaning up the games each night after your last rotation.
TIME KEEPER (1 adult):

Time keeper is responsible for keeping time each day. You will have a table set up in the Marketplace and you will ring a bell notifying the Leaders of rotation times. You will work along with the Director (Ginger) in notifying all stations when it is time to rotate by ringing of the bell.
COSTUME HELPER (1 adult):

Costume helper is responsible for preparing all costumes needed. This includes washing, ironing, folding, hanging and organizing the costumes for all children, family leaders and actors. This will be done the week prior to VBS (July 3-7).
PRE-VBS SETUP (10 adults): 1)Judy Williams 2)Jane Wilson 3)Monique Garro

You will be responsible for helping Ginger organize and sort all craft items,  family leader baskets, signs and supplies needed for Babylon VBS. This will be done prior to VBS on the following dates: Wed, June 28 & Thurs, June 29, 10-2pm and Mon, July 3, Wed-Fri, July 5, 6 & 7, 10:00-2:00 each day (excluding Tues, July 4).
DECORATION & STAGE SET UP (4): 1)Amanda Walters 2)Delaine Washington

Decoration and stage set up crew is responsible for helping Ginger create the stage set. This will be done the Sunday, July 9 immediately after church service. Duties include cutting foam board, painting and building the set. Three men will be needed to clear the stage and build the PVC pipe frame to hold up the stage decorations.
SET-UP CREW (Need 20 adults): 1)Amanda Walters 2)Tom Barron 3)Debra Barron

Set up crew is responsible for stacking up all chairs against the wall of the sanctuary, setting up tents, tables, chairs and lighting for tents. Decorating tents with fabric to create "The Babylon Marketplace". This will be done on Sunday July 9th immediately after church.
CLEAN-UP CREW (20): 1)Brian Remily 2)Monique Remily 3)Carlos Miller 4)Tom Barron 5)Debra Barron

Clean up crew is responsible for cleaning up all VBS supplies and placing them back in the storage building immediately following Friday VBS 9pm until in order to prepare the sanctuary for church services on Sunday, July 31st. This includes removing all tents, tables, fabric, baskets, stage decor, vacuuming floor and resetting chairs. Also packing up and putting items back in the storage building neatly sorted.
VBS PHOTOGRAPHER: (1)

You will be responsible for taking photos the entire week of VBS. You will walk around the different stations and photograph the children and volunteers making crafts, participating in celebration time, story time and outdoor activities. You will be responsible for giving Ginger the jump drive on the last night of VBS in order to prepare the slide show for church on Sunday, July 16.
PRESCHOOL HELPER (1 adult): Delaine Washington

Pre-school helper is responsible for helping with the pre-school children. You will be provided with age appropriate snacks and crafts to keep them occupied during VBS.

SOUND & TECH: 1)Wes Barron 2)Brayden Washington

Will assist with sound and technical responsibilities each night of VBS and for the closing ceremony.
